It's also a volume that some readers will have to approach with a mixture of patience and an open mind, because its set-up - author Ignacio Ramonet's context-setting introduction to the pages that follow - makes many valid, historical-political points but also has a strong aroma of unabashed hagiography.

Peterson update: Sprain, but MRI tomorrow

In college football, you can go 1-9 and be in trouble as a coach, but if your the Alabama coach and your one win is against Auburn, your job is safe.

On the other hand, if your the Alabama coach and go 9-1 and the only loss is to Auburn, get your resume ready.

Well, if your a Viking coach and you lose to the Packers, your SH*T and need to be fired..

0-4 with the worst loss to the Packers EVER, then you need to be draw-and-quartered (for the sack of Childress, it's horses pulling your limbs in four different directions)

The idiot liquored-up pucker fans will be here taunting us.

Wilf (or Wiff if you look at his coaching choices) is from New Jersey (which means he is aready a little slow) does not understand our hatred of the Packers.

Swanni's HDTV Presidential Forecast!

Washington, D.C. (February 6, 2008) -- In 1960, Democratic Sen. John F. Kennedy defeated Vice President Richard Nixon in part because the latter failed to shave in the first presidential debate. Nixon's 5 o'clock shadow made him look unfriendly, if not downright sinister.

Can you imagine if the debate had aired in crystal-clear High-Definition TV? In fact, one could argue that Nixon would have never even been nominated for high office if the voters had first seen him in high-def.

Well, this year's debates are being broadcast in high-def by CNN -- and how the candidates look could be having an impact on the race.

High-Definition TV's picture is so precise that the facial imperfections and aging signs of TV personalities -- and presidential hopefuls -- are now visible to the naked eye.

The NFL regular season has come to a close and the Cleveland Browns just missed making the playoffs. A few weeks ago it sure looked like they were in good shape as far as the post season was concerned, but I guess it just wasn't meant to be. Still, the Browns did register a victory over the San Francisco 49ers in their final game and there will be high hopes for this team entering the 2008 season. The Brownies finished with a 10-6 record, far exceeding expectations for this team entering 2007. This is the first time this franchise has reached a double digit win total since they re-entered the league in 1999. They provided many thrills for their die hard fans this season and belive me it was long overdue. I grew up in Cleveland and have been a life long Browns fan, so the following opinion might be a bit bias.

Starbucks switches to free AT&T Wi-Fi

Starbucks Corp. and AT&T Inc. will start offering a mix of free and paid wireless Internet service in most of the international coffee retailer's U.S. shops, beginning this spring.

The move announced Monday ends a six-year partnership T-Mobile, which did not include free Wi-Fi and charged higher fees than AT&T will.

Starbucks said it will give customers who use a Starbucks card two hours of free wireless access per day. More time than that will cost $3.99 for a two-hour session. Monthly memberships will cost $19.99 and include access to any of AT&T's 70,000 hot spots worldwide.

Nearly all of AT&T's broadband Internet customers, about 12 million, will automatically have unlimited free Wi-Fi access at Starbucks, the companies said.

The deal boosts the number of AT&T hotspots in the U.S.

Indoor golf facility puts the swing back into winter

It's just a wedge shot across the Ohio River from Coraopolis, a narrow parcel littered with industrial plants, weathered warehouses and what is billed as the most spacious indoor golf dome in the country.

Make no mistake, Neville Island has never been confused with a winter getaway destination. But if you're looking to hit golf balls and get your swing in shape while snow and ice blanket the region's golf courses, the golf dome at the Robert Morris University Island Sports Center is the place to be. And you don't even have to wear gloves, turtlenecks or wind shirts in the climate-controlled dome.

It's a balmy 70 degrees every day, making it a must-stop destination for Ronca and a host of other cooped-up golfers in Western Pennsylvania.

"When I go down there, I always see a lot of other people," said Ronca, 52, a Baden resident who plays mainly at public courses and considers himself a low- to mid-80s player.

Woman Uses Fake Bomb, Hostage Story, To Rob Bank

LONGWOOD, Fla. -- A woman who told a teller that she had a bomb and that her children were being held hostage walked out of the Washington Mutual Bank in Longwood Saturday with an undisclosed amount of cash.

According to Longwood Police, the woman walked into the bank on State Road 434 just after 1pm and handed the teller a note.

The note said that unknown people were holding her children hostage and a bomb she had would detonate unless the bank gave her a certain amount of money.

Employees in the bank complied with her demands and she exited the bank with the cash, but left behind a bag she indicated contained the bomb.

Police later determined that was not the case.

Witnesses said the woman left in a red Jeep Liberty drove west on 434.
