Steiner Ranch Dermatology Offers Breakthrough Acne Laser Treatment

Steiner Ranch Dermatology announced the addition of Isolaz, a revolutionary light-based treatment for eliminating acne, removing unwanted hair and rejuvenating aging and sun-damaged skin."The start of the new year is often a time when people resolve to remove barriers to happiness and confidence," said Dr. Ted Lain, Steiner Ranch Dermatology. "While there are a number of effective ways to prevent and reduce signs of acne, some patients need a little extra help. This new technology gives patients a powerful way to achieve clearer, healthier skin more quickly and more easily than ever before."Through the combination of a vacuum and broadband light to cleanse and refresh pores, this technology represents the only light-based treatment for acne with 3 distinct advantages over less advanced laser-based solutions: it is painless, delivers overnight results and enables patients to resume normal activities immediately after treatment. As the only FDA-approved system for both comedonal and pustular acne, the new approach is broadly effective, capable of quickly and dramatically clearing acne for the vast majority of patients, even those traditionally non-responsive to treatment.Steiner Ranch Dermatology is dedicated to providing patients with the broadest possible range of safe and effective treatment options for skin conditions ranging from acne and rashes to skin cancers and sun damage.

Macworld 2008 Prediction: Apple's MacBook Plus Tablet Laptop

It's January, which means time has come for the electronics industry to release all its secrets for the year ahead. That means plenty of announcements at the Consumer Electronics Show beginning Saturday in Las Vegas, and then at Apple's Macworld the week after that. (We'll be live at both with video and analysis, so bookmark here and here now.) Last year, Apple upstaged pretty much every other company in the gadget world with the unveiling of the iPhone, and this year, the rumor mill is hot and heavy with speculation about a tablet for the Mac line. As I do every year at this time, I recently called up the folks at Apple and asked them what to expect from Steve Jobs when he takes the stage for his keynote on Jan. 15. And as they do every year, the folks at Apple told me nothing. So if they won't tell me what they're working on, I'll tell them what I want for the new year.

Who is afraid of Disneyfication? A response to Sonja Hegasy

Ahdaf Soueif did not initially welcome the translation of her novel In the Eye of Sun from English to Arabic (the state-owned literary weekly Akhbar al-Adab did attempt a translation – never easy in the case of an 800-page book). In a public lecture, Soueif declared that only she herself would be truly faithful to the text, but that she would rather write a new novel. This is understandable.

If Soueif had been a victim of the parochialism of Egyptian intellectuals she would not have been invited to the Higher Council on Culture’s conference on the Arab novel in 1998, at which she thanked the council Chairman Gaber al-Asfour for acknowledging her work as belonging to the Arab novel. Soueif’s The Map of Love has been translated into Arabic, and her work Zinat al-Hayat has been published by al-Haya’a al-’Amma lil kitab, the official government press.

Call of the past

As we go through our lives, science will have a greater impact. You can look at the science, 'Wow, they can do that, they can recover the voice without touching the cylinder.' "

Eventually the recording will be part of the London park exhibit. It will be played for visitors in the painstakingly restored den and cottage where London would write 1,000 words each day, his back to the window to avoid distractions.

"It would be best served as an interpretative tool if it was listened to and fully explained at the park where it was recorded," Crossman said.

The Londons bought the 500-acre Glen Ellen ranch and vineyard in 1910 and named it Beauty Ranch. It was where he lived, wrote, entertained friends and dignitaries and eventually died.

London was a world traveler and remains an international figure.

Former Miss Virginia: Everyone has 'body drama'

It's hard to believe that a former Miss Virginia might have had body image problems, but Martinsville native Nancy Redd, Miss Virginia of 2003, did when she was a teenager. It was out of those insecurities that she has just published a book for adolescent girls titled "BODY DRAMA" with frank answers to embarrassing questions and real, often explicit, pictures of women's bodies and problems with their bodies. "My own body gave me the idea for the book," Redd said last week. "In middle and high school, I'd often sneak into the health section of the bookstore or library and frantically flip through the dozens of puberty and body books on the shelves, ignoring the paragraphs of clinical text, searching urgently for photographic evidence that I was not a weird girl - proof by comparison, if you will.
