Stern is doing what the lame Burklewatch should be doing: throwing out a cornucopia of potential leads that more respectable reporters (like Dan Walters) can check out. ... If Stern's output survives without provoking a fatal lawsuit, it could start a trend. But I advise reading it immediately--go ahead, leave my blog, I'll be here all day--before the Singer letters start arriving at Denton HQ. ... 5:59 P.M.

Nevada Republicans try to pressure Sen. Harry Reid on immigration by calling him a "rich Anglo"--an impressively unprincipled, offensive, and desperate move. [Also 'ironic'--ed Yes. But 'ironic' is now an unusable cliche.] ... 11:59 A.M.

Walter Kirn blames Malcolm Gladwell for the Iraq War. ... Not really. But not 100% not really.

In the end, it's about who ran out of juice

Just take a moment to drink in LeBron James' line: 31 points on 10-of-20 shooting, a career-high 19 rebounds, eight assists, four steals, three blocked shots and eight turnovers. According to the number crunchers at Elias Sports Bureau, no one in the recorded history of the NBA has had 31 points, 19 rebounds, four steals and three blocks in the same game.

James also won a jump ball at the end of regulation that looked for a moment like it might win the Cavs the game, and it certainly kept them in it. More on that in a moment, but understand that's not even recorded in the box score.

Anderson Varejao, playing with his entire left leg wrapped in padding and support hose after suffering knee and Achilles injuries Wednesday, had a season-high 16 points and tied a career high with 18 rebounds.

For those of you who love abortion so much, you can move to Oregon or California and abort your heart out. Me? I like living in a state that appreciates the value of human life.In the Top 10 Most Pro-Life, number 6 out of 50 for South Dakota isn't too bad. But we can keep working for #1. Maybe if we get the abortion ban passed this year, we'll get #1 next year!

Peaches by the dozen

If it wasn't already the hottest ticket in town, it certainly is now. Kate Moss has given Punk - the small, but perfectly formed club in Soho Street - her seal of approval. She hired the whole place out for her epic, star-studded birthday bash on Wednesday night, but mere mortals can party there too. Fingers firmly on the pulse, six days before the Moss posse head down, we pay Punk a visit.

As we arrive, Peaches Geldof is screeching orders into her mobile, "HURRY UP! You've gotta get down here by 9.30!" and swigging from a bottle of Veuve Clicquot.

It's 8.55pm and we're just in time to make it in for free. We clatter gleefully downstairs and take up residence on velvet sofas in a roped-off section at the back.

It's possibly a VIP section but no one seems to care, and we dispatch the boys to the bar for £12 bottles of house white wine.

Mobile World Congress: Day one highlights

The show formerly known as 3GSM is always a busy one, with many mobile and telecoms companies choosing to announce their latest company news on the first day of the show.

However, this year the vendors were not only competing with each other to make the biggest splash; the European Commission's competition commissioner and mobile industry public-enemy number-one Viviane Reding was on hand to inject some consumer rights into proceedings. Reding has already taken the operators to task over roaming voice charges, but she chose exactly the right moment to raise the Commission's next regulatory target mobile data roaming. .

Report on nutrient pollution forecasts worsening health for nation's estuaries Cape Cod to Chesapeake are the most impaired in America

While moderate to high level nutrient-related impacts were reported in systems from all coasts, the Mid-Atlantic region, stretching south from Cape Cod to the Chesapeake Bay, is the most impairedThe National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration today released a comprehensive assessment of estuarine eutrophication, or nutrient pollution, that clearly indicates linkages between upstream activities and coastal ecosystem health. The report shows that the majority of U.S. estuaries assessed are highly influenced by human-related activities and points out that eutrophication is a widespread problem globally. "Observations have confirmed that our nation’s coastal waters are stressed," said retired Navy Vice Adm.

KELLER'S WWE RAW REPORT 2/4: Ongoing "virtual time" coverage of live ...

KELLER'S WWE RAW REPORT FEBRUARY 4, 2008 TAPE DELAY FROM AUSTIN, TEX. WHAT HAPPENED: 1ST HOUR -A full pyro show opened the show. Then Randy Orton was shown standing in mid-ring as Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler introduced the show. Orton said John Cena accepted his invite to wrestle him at No Way Out for the WWE Title. He said Cena's word means nothing to him, so he wants it in writing so there's no way he can back out of the match in two weeks. He said Cena therefore cannot claim he is not fully recovered. He was there to be "no way out" for Cena. Get it? He said he had his lawyers draw up the contract, which he has already signed. He called Cena to the ring. Cena came out and signed the document quickly. Orton told him that if he suffers a pec injury later in an arm wrestling contest against Mark Henry, he'll still have to fulfill his match at No Way Out.
