| Michelle Obama, Chelsea Clinton visit same Midlands church
Michelle Obama and Chelsea Clinton. One was on one side of the church, one on the other. And the congregation took note. "I don't know. It was kinda awkward," said Evette Brown. "Well to me I think it shows divide but I think once this is over on Saturday, I think our country will be united because we are all going to come together and rally behind whoever gets the nomination," said Sarah Brown. Pastor Darrell Jackson, who is a senior consultant for the Clinton campaign in South Carolina, says the seating arrangements were no accident. "It is our custom that when campaigns come that we sit one on one side, and one on the other," said Jackson. Neither Mrs. Obama nor Miss Clinton spoke at the pulpit, but after the service they did speak to churchgoers.
Inflation is price as Gulf nations fight to maintain dollar pegs
The arguments in favor of breaking the policy tie will gain weight as U.S. rates fall but growth and inflation remain high in the Gulf," said Simon Williams, senior regional economist of HSBC. Policy makers may put on a show of unity as they are committed to preparing for a common currency in the Gulf. "A revaluation can be delayed for a long time, but it will come at a cost," said Marios Maratheftis, regional head of research at Standard Chartered Bank. "That cost is inflation." Inflation has become a political problem in the Gulf, where it has overtaken official lending rates in five of the six states preparing for monetary union. Arguments that the status quo brings stability have begun to ring hollow as governments are forced to raise wages and impose controls on rents and food prices to contain public discontent.

The lady with the golden pipes, Christina Aguilera, has been working on a signature scent to sell to the masses, but it's not going too well, according the latest market research. The Daily Mirror says that Xtina's new fragrance, aptly titled Simply Christina, has not been getting the best reviews from recent testers. Consumers are calling it "tacky" and a member of one London panel said, "The packaging looked cheap and we went away unimpressed." I realize the powerhouse has recently changed her image from sexy little vixen to mature glamour puss, but maybe she should have just stuck with her old look and named the perfume "Dirrty" -- then nobody would be disappointed. .
Get ready for more mystery in new season of 'Lost'
The next step in the rescue plan was for the group to make a trek to the radio tower and shut off a tape-loop rescue plea that also was interfering with any other transmissions. Ben (Michael Emerson), the less-than-trustworthy overlord of the Others, implored Jack (Matthew Fox), the survivors' reluctant leader, not to place the call to the freighter people. Jack sneered at Ben's words. The call was made, and the new episode began, much as last season's finale did, with Jack somewhere in the future — drinking. With this recently added flash-forward storytelling feature, Jack was seen in his Los Angeles kitchen mixing a morning cocktail when his eye fell on TV coverage of police in hot pursuit of a speeding motorist. In a scene back on the island (and back in time), the portly Hurley (Jorge Garcia) runs into Locke (Terry O'Quinn), who long ago had "gone native" and has no desire to ever leave the island.
Young chefs cook up creative recipes for rockfish contest
The results are in from the first Junior Rockfish Cooking Contest, held last weekend in Ocean City in conjunction with the East Coast Commercial Fishermen's and Aquaculture Trade Expo. From where I sat at the judges' tables, the half-dozen youths competing in the age 7 to 11 and age 12 categories certainly put on an impressive show. Ryan Yetter of Clear Spring, Md., was the winner in the younger division with this recipe.Ryan's Rockfish .
