It is gory, and dangerous
He disowns the responsibility of the Kargil adventure and repeatedly says that he was not in the picture. This may well be true because Gen Ayub Khan also did not know when Zulfikar Ali Bhutto sent the infiltrators into Kashmir in 1965. Both Mr Nawaz Sharif and Gen Ayub Khan came to know about the hostilities when they were in the midst of war. However, since the nineties, people-to-people contacts have themselves become an institution in the two countries. Civil societies on both sides have responded well and they would like to bury the hatchet. It would be a tragedy if the ISI were to reactivate the Babbar Khalsa to revive terrorism in Punjab, as reports indicate. President Pervez Musharraf has never thought of dismantling the training camps in his country. What is worrying the domestic scenario in Pakistan.
Eustis, Wildwood to start at top
Two of the hottest basketball teams from the Lake/Sumter area heading into next week's boys basketball district tournaments may be Eustis and Wildwood. Coincidentally, they also are the two area teams entering the tournaments as top-seeded teams. Going into Thursday night's games, Eustis (18-5 overall, 7-0 in district) is riding a six-game winning streak and is No. 1 in the Class 4A, District 7 Tournament at Bishop Moore. South Lake (13-9, 6-1), which is playing in the Montverde Academy Invitational Tournament this week, is the second-seeded team. Wildwood (19-4, 7-1), which met Leesburg on Thursday night, is the top-seeded team in the 3A-7 tournament at Mount Dora and has won 10 games in a row. Ocala Trinity Catholic (18-4, 7-1) is seeded second, but the Celtics are ranked No.

California Rep. Tom Lantos, 80, Dies, Had Cancer
Tall and dignified, Lantos never lost the accent of his native Hungary, but his courtly demeanor belied the cutting comments he would make in committee if the testimony he heard was not to his liking. "Morally, you are pygmies," he berated top executives of Yahoo Inc. at a hearing he called in November 2007 as they defended their company's involvement in the jailing of a Chinese journalist. "This is about as believable as Elvis being seen in a Kmart," was his retort to a witness testifying before a subcommittee he headed in 1989 that led a congressional investigation of Reagan-era scandals at the Department of Housing and Urban Development. Lantos was elected to Congress after spending three decades teaching economics at San Francisco State University, working as a business consultant and serving as a foreign policy commentator on television.
Rapping with a proud Albanian
This week Today and PM are broadcasting my radio reports on my Balkans trip. One of the frustrations of radio or TV is that you can find someone who has some very interesting things to say, but in the quest for balanced pieces reflecting the whole story I can only give them a half-minute or so of airtime. Here, I am not limited in that way. So, over the next few days I'll be posting four different stories about how people are reacting to the Serbian elections or the looming independence of Kosovo. They are not meant to be comprehensive or in themselves balanced: they are a snapshot. But I hope together they add up to a bigger picture. Rapper's studio Genc Prevlaka sits on a low, antique wooden stool playing a traditional Albanian wooden flute. In the corner of the small studio is a long necked guitar-like instrument which is a couple of centuries old.
